# Every position, every month. _The issue they renew for._

Your free posts explain how index funds, dividends and a savings rate work. The thing people would pay for is narrower: your own portfolio, every position, every month, with the reasoning written down. That is the paid tier here, at €12 a month, with the platform taking 20% and no fixed fee. Around it: a €35 form for “what would you do in my situation” answered as education within five days, a portfolio walkthrough call, a budget-challenge Discord and a FIRE calculator that fills your list.

## The page they subscribe on
instead of _the Patreon tier._

One email field, two tiers, a yearly option. The free tier is your weekly “money moves” piece; the paid tier is the monthly portfolio update with every position and a note after every transaction. The description says what it is and what it is not in two lines. Investing newsletters already price at $27 a month on the big platforms; €12 is the low end of the corridor, chosen so volume does the work.

What you send back

## The principles applied
to _their numbers._

The €35 situation form is where the “what would you do?” emails go. You answer with the framework, not a product: how to think about the emergency fund, what the fee difference compounds to, which questions to ask before choosing a wrapper. Written within five days or the money goes back. If you cannot answer without naming a fund to buy, you say so and point them to a licensed adviser.

_Inbox · Ask about your situation · due in 3 days_

**Their situation** — 34, employed in Germany, €2,100 a month to invest, €15k in a savings account, employer pension, no debt. “Should I keep saving or start investing everything?”

**The framework** — Six months of expenses in cash is a common rule; on your numbers that is about €12k, so you are there. Everything above it is a question of horizon and temperament, not timing.

**What the fee does** — The difference between 0.2% and 1.5% a year on €2,100 a month over 30 years is roughly a third of the final amount. Run it in the calculator; the arithmetic is the point.

**Questions to take to an adviser** — Riester or not, given your employer pension; how the Freistellungsauftrag is split; whether a broker or a bank is the right wrapper for you. I cannot tell you what to buy; I can tell you what to ask.

## Five products,
switched on _in this order._

The newsletter first, because that is the product people in this niche already pay for and the one that retains when it has a fixed cadence and a visible artefact. Then the form that catches the personal questions, then the call, the Discord and the calculator.

    Day one · Newsletter

    ### Budget-challenge Discord _€8 / month_

A monthly savings-rate challenge, a net-worth update thread on the first, a Sunday spending check-in. Seven-day trial, yearly plan on. Priced low on purpose: it is an accountability room, not a signals room.

    ### FIRE calculator _free_

One-field download in your bio. The contact lands in the CRM tagged by country, employed or self-employed, and kids; you email the segment when the tax year or the deadline it cares about comes round.

#### Portfolio update, September — 14 positions, one sale, one new savings rule

This month in one paragraph

Savings rate 41%. Net worth up 1.8%, almost all of it contributions. Sold one position; explained below. Nothing else changed and that is the point.

The tablepaid

All 14 positions: fund, weight, cost, current value, change since last month, one line of reasoning each. The spreadsheet is attached and pre-filled.

The transactionpaid

Why I sold the small-cap fund: overlap with the world tracker, a fee of 0.45% for a tilt I no longer want. What I looked at before deciding, and what I would want to see to reverse it.

One reader question

“Is it worth paying off the 3.1% student loan early?” — The arithmetic versus the sleep argument, and the three cases where the maths clearly wins. Not advice; a way to think about it.

## What the monthly issue
_actually contains._

One paragraph on the month, the full table with reasoning, a write-up of any transaction, one reader question, one link. The table and the transaction note are the paid part; the paragraph and the question go out free and get forwarded. Readers in this niche churn out after about six months when the issue is a variable essay; a fixed table on a fixed date is what they renew for.

Assisted mode means the agent builds the table from your spreadsheet and drafts the month paragraph; you write the reasoning column and the transaction note, which is the part nobody else can.

## An accountability room,
not a _signals room._

The Discord is €8 a month and it is for the savings rate, not for stock talk. A monthly challenge, a net-worth thread, a Sunday check-in. That framing keeps the room on the right side of the line: nobody posts tickers with price targets, and the rules say so. ApplyForm grants and revokes the Discord role as people pay and cancel; the rhythm below is yours.

- 1st of the month

    **Net-worth and savings-rate thread**

Members post their number and their rate, anonymously if they like. The issue lands the same morning. Streaks are the retention mechanic.

- Monday

    **Challenge check-in**

This month's rule: no-spend weekdays, a 50% rate for one month, the fee audit. One prompt, one reply each.

- Sunday

    **Spending check-in + reader question**

What went over, what was cut. The best question becomes next month's newsletter block.

- Monthly

    **Live Q&A, 45 min**

Frameworks and arithmetic, no tickers. Anything personal becomes a €35 form or a walkthrough call.

Why these prices

## Numbers from
the _market._

**$20–27** median paid price of finance and investing newsletters

Finance $20 a month, investing $27 on the largest newsletter platform, against a $10 platform default. €12 is deliberately at the low end so more readers convert.

**0.6%** median free-to-paid conversion

The top decile of investing newsletters converts 18.7%. The difference is a fixed artefact on a fixed date, which is what the monthly table is.

**16.7%** monthly churn of paid finance newsletters

The highest of any vertical; paid readers stay about six months. Yearly plans and a transaction note between issues are the two levers.

**$10.46** revenue per paid member of a typical dividend Patreon

About 300–370 paying of 4,500 members, for exactly this format: holdings, purchase notifications, community. The same product, with 20% instead of Patreon's 13–16% plus the iOS markup.

**$300 / hr** median rate of advice-only financial planners

Licensed, personalised, regulated. Your €150 walkthrough is not that, and says so: it is an hour of education on how to read what someone already holds.

**21.7M** members of r/personalfinance

The largest audience in the money cluster. 89% of Gen Z say they learn about money on social media. The demand for education is not the constraint; the payment rail is.

Common worries

## “Isn't writing about
_my portfolio advice?_”

Describing what you hold and why is commentary; telling a reader what to buy or sell is advice, and in the EU that needs a licence. ESMA's 2026 factsheet is blunt: telling people what to invest in can count as investment advice, publishing an opinion on whether a share will rise can count as a recommendation under market-abuse rules, and a “this is not investment advice” line does not protect you on its own. So the page, the form and the issue template are written as education: your holdings, your reasoning, the arithmetic, the questions to ask. The agent will not write “buy”, “target price” or “this will return” anywhere, and the form's description tells buyers what they are and are not getting before they pay.

**“Someone will ask me what to buy anyway.”**

They will. The form template answers with the framework and ends with “I can tell you what to ask, not what to buy”, plus a pointer to a licensed adviser. If a question cannot be answered that way, refund it. The refund is one click and costs you nothing.

**“Can I say how my portfolio has done?”**

You can report your own figures as facts, dated, with contributions separated from returns, as the sample issue does. What you cannot do is present them as what a reader will get. No projected returns, no “beat the market” copy on the public page.

**“€12 is low for the work in that table.”**

It is priced for volume in a niche with the highest churn in newsletters. Yearly at €120 is where most of the revenue comes from once the first hundred readers are in; raise the monthly price for new readers later and grandfather the early ones.

Tell the agent your Substack, YouTube or X handle. It reads what you publish, proposes the two newsletter tiers, the situation form and the budget Discord with prices from the market, and sets them up when you create the account.
